Hotel - Aparthotel Golden Avenida Suites

This hotel has fun written all over it. And not just for kids, for grown-ups, too. Take its location. Set at the top end ofSalou, there are shops, restaurants and bars just a five-minute stroll away. The beach is handy, too – just ten minutes from the door. And the Costa Dorada’s star attraction, Portaventura theme park, is only a short bus ride away.

As the Avenida Suites is part of our Familyclub range, we’re talking Kidzone clubs, a drop-in den and playgrounds with chunky slides. Childrens’ buffets dish up all their favourite eats at mealtimes, too.

The Avenida lays on loads for adults, too. Think family-focused games and activities during the day, like aqua-aerobics, sports contests and skittles. And the action continues into the evenings. Most nights kick off with happy hours at the bar, before mini-discos for the little ones followed by cabaret shows and live music.

Hotel - Holidays in Corralejo

There's more to holidays in Corralejo than sun and sand. That's not to say that the amazing seven-mile stretch of golden beach is not one of the resort's major attractions. Or that the almost guaranteed sunshine, during the summer holidays or in the winter, isn't another big plus point. But travel to Corralejo is also about enjoying yourself, with the best entertainment and nightlife you'll find on the island.

When it comes to accommodation, there's a good choice. If we're talking self catering holidays, one of the favourites with Thomson customers is the Oasis Papagayo Apartments. Set just 800m from the beach, it's got great facilities, including Thomson Kid Zone children's clubs. Or for a touch of luxury, there's the Riu Palace Tres Islas, a 5* property in an idyllic position on Flag Beach and within walking distance of Fuerteventura's famous sand dunes. The rooms are superb and there's a health suite plus four floodlit tennis courts into the bargain

Hotel - Hotel Los Gigantes

Backed by dramatic cliffs, the Hotel Los Gigantes makes for an impressive sight. Hemmed by terracotta-topped villas and glossy palms, it sits right on the coast, looking out across the sea towards La Gomera. What’s more, it’s just a stone’s throw from the soft volcanic sands of Los Gigantes beach and there’s a picturesque marina close by, too.

Location aside, the pool scene is a real talking point. There are two swimming pools to choose from, one saltwater and one freshwater, with the latter being the quieter of the two. For something a little more upbeat, the entertainment team organise games and competitions in and around the saltwater pool. The sun terrace, meanwhile, is peppered with sunloungers and parasols and makes the most of those fabulous sea views.

Hotel - Hotel Pez Espada

The Pez Espada was the very first luxury hotel on the Costa Del Sol, opening its doors back in the glamour days of the 50’s. A magnet for film stars and royalty, its guest book included the likes of Sean Connery, Sophia Loren and the King Juan Carlos of Spain. Photos of some of the most famous guests line the hotel’s aptly named ‘Corridor of Fame’. And the most famous guest of them all, Frank Sinatra, even has a bar named after him. Fifty years on and this place is still just as popular as ever. In fact, it’s what we call a repeat hotel – people just keep on coming back year after year. So, what’s the secret to its success?

First up there’s the location. It’s in a prime spot, right next to Torremolinos’ beach promenade. You can literally wander through the hotel grounds down to those famous sun-baked sands. But that’s not all. La Cariheula – the cutesy Spanish quarter known for its tapas bars and fish restaurants – is only a short stroll away. Five minutes in the other direction and you come to Benalmadena’s swish marina.
